The Fold
We are building a foundation herd of Highland cattle with a clear focus on temperament, structure, and lasting quality — suited to small farms, thoughtful owners, and life in Round Top, Texas.
Pond and open pasture — where the fold will graze
Breeding Philosophy
- Gentle disposition first. Calm, people-oriented Highland cattle are the priority. We want animals that are a pleasure to handle and safe around families.
- Quality over quantity. Our target is a small herd so that every animal can receive individual attention.
- Best available genetics. We use artificial insemination to access proven bloodlines and carefully selected sires rather than keeping a bull on site year-round.
- Classic Highland character. Traditional Highlands are horned. That is the breed standard, and we work with the cattle as they are — long hair, hardiness, and the look that defines the breed.
- Miniature Highlands, if included. If we raise miniature Highlands, those animals will be registered with the International Miniature Cattle Breeders Registry (IMCBR) and most likely have some Highpark or Dexter genetics for size and color variety.
Wildlife already shares this land — we aim to keep the place in balance as the fold grows
Round Top Fold is a member of the American Highland Cattle Association. Our official herd prefix is RTF.
At this stage we are still establishing the herd in Round Top, Texas. No calves are currently available for sale. As the program develops and the first Highland calves arrive, we will update this page with information on available animals.
If you are interested in future Highland calves or would simply like to learn more about our breeding plans, please reach out. We are always happy to talk with people who share an appreciation for these remarkable animals.
